Evie Skincare began as an extension Angela’s practice as a doctor of Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), which was in 2007 and her love of herbs and joy of creating. From topical salves for patients and herbal hydrosols for gifts Angela dipped her toe into the world of skincare. With a deep interest in dermatology and skincare formulation  she completed a 2 year Chinese Medicine Diploma in Dermatology and most recently completed two skincare formulation programs, one through Pacific Rim College and the other with the School of Natural Skincare. There are numerous plants in Chinese herbal medicine that are beneficial for skin health and by using the principles of TCM she wants to highlight those in Evie products.

Angela first began creating herbal products in 2011 after her daughter was born, initially making TCM based tinctures for family and friends.  This soon turned into a side business, Bitter Roots Apothecary, which allowed her to spend more time with her daughter in the early years. All extracts, infused oils and glycerites are made in house using techniques honed through the operations of Bitter Roots Apothecary.
